A cricket world cup is held every 4 years. Some will say that you have a world cup every year- T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, ICC Test Championship. So what is it that makes the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup stand out?
This was the first cricket tournament organised on such a large scale and given the title of World Cup. 13 editions have been played if we take into consideration the latest one taking place in India.
Now, being hosted by my own country, is something that I can cherish for a very long time. 12 years later it’s being held in India and it’s a treat for the fans to watch.
For every match of their country, people are glued to their television screens. Yelling and shouting on top of their voices, trying to give instructions to the players on how to play, even when they don’t know them. The fans will not receive any major prizes, but it is the passion of a sport that unites countries to stand tall against their opponents.
Being from a cricket-fanatic country like India, all you want is to see your country perform and your favourite cricketers unlocking new milestones. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the players that have taken the team to new levels. Seeing them do well just brings immense happiness to the population of a country that is over a billion people.

An India-Pakistan match is an all time favourite for everyone. It is like fighting a fierce battle against a strong opposition. It always brings a sense of relief whenever India wins as it feels like giving out a strong statement.

Virat Kohli achieving the great Sachin Tendulkar’s feat of most International Centuries in ODI Cricket (49) is a sight of delight for Indian Cricket. It’s always special to see a man, who has put in years of commitment and hard work to achieve the record of his idol.

People from all walks of life stand still for those few hours when India plays. Their life might be challenging or they have to face failures everyday, but when the Indian team wins, it feels like a personal achievement for them. We don’t know what goes on in one’s life, but cricket definitely has the power to make one forget about all the hardships.
It brings out joy, jubilation, passion, teaches us the importance of hard work, brings out the “never give up” attitude, motivates for what life is to throw at us and even gives a heartbreak sometimes. Thats why I say, “A World Cup of Infinite Emotions”.
